SEARHC was established in 1975 under the provisions of the Indian Self-Determination Act as a non-profit health consortium which serves the health interests of the residents of Southeast Alaska. The intent of this legislation was to have Indian Health Service programs and facilities turned over to tribal management. Our contracting with IHS began in 1976 when we took over management of the Community Health Aides Program. In 1982, we took over operation of the IHS Juneau clinic, now the Ethel Lund Medical Center, and took over operation of Sitka’s Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital in 1986. We are one of the oldest and largest Native-run health organizations in the nation.
This position provides a broad array of duties as a receptionist, care provider and administrative assistant that aids in the delivery of Physical Therapy Department services. Physical Therapy (PT) is a core service provided by this healthcare organization. Occupational Therapy (OT) and Speech-Language-Pathology (SLP) are services also provided in the department. The performance of this department has a direct and significant impact on the health, function and well being of patients. Performs in a professional manner, respects confidentiality, and demonstrates qualities endorsed by following the seven Standards for Service Excellence outlined in the SEARHC Human Resources Manual.
EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Nurse Aide certification is preferred.
- Two (2) years dependable work history (required) with customer service experience (preferred).
- Demonstrate proficiency with computers and multiple software interfaces such as Microsoft Office, RPMS, etc.
- Experience with direct patient care in a health related setting is preferred.
