Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.
These positions are represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and are subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.
DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation
HOURS OF WORK: Hours vary; Monday through Sunday; Between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.
LOCATION: Dimond Pool: 2909 W 88th Avenue; West Pool: 1700 Hillcrest Drive; Bartlett Pool: 1101 Golden Bear Drive
These are seasonal, part-time positions working between 20 and 28 hours per week, and will last no longer than six (6) months from date of hire.
Applicants from this job opportunity announcement may be used to fill other seasonal, part-time lifeguard I positions within the Anchorage Parks and Recreation department with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
|Example of Duties:|
Provide supervision to ensure the safety of patrons in Municipal indoor facility or area. Provide and oversee recreational duties for youth activities, cashiering, swim instruction, public etiquette, facility/ground maintenance, maintaining water quality standards, rescues, assists, first aid, CPR, and functions of the Emergency Action Plan. Perform other related duties as assigned.
|Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences:|
Must possess a current American Red Cross (or equivalent) Lifeguard Training Certification at the time of hire.
|Additional Important Information:|
Preference will be given to returning Seasonal Employees who are eligible for Recall as per AMEA 3.14.8, and to any current Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees. Recalled and AMEA employees who are successful in the screening process will be forwarded to the department for consideration prior to any non-AMEA applicants.
