Reports Analyst - Programming Team

JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision and in a team-based environment, provides data gathering, business and data analysis, and reporting and analytics support for ANTHC and our Tribal partners. Works with a broad range of internal and external customers to deliver excellent customer service, to understand clinical and business problems, to create data solutions that utilize appropriate technologies and reporting tools, and to maintain a healthy reporting environment.
Works closely with customers to understand their needs and provide data and reports in a timely, accurate and professional manner.
Analyzes business problems and document and communicate reporting requirements accurately. Develop new and modified reports and data extracts based on business requirements.
Provides basic analyses and presentations of data. Selects the appropriate data source and reporting tools / applications for a specific need.
Trains users on various reporting systems and reporting functionality.
Presents complex reporting logic in a simple manner to the user community.
Monitors utilization of existing reporting technologies.
Creates and maintains report library. Manages and archives reports and other documentation.
Creates or updates documentation for deliverables and changes.
Develops a working understanding of data structures within core and ancillary applications.
Understands and adheres to the data life cycle for operational, clinical, finance, and research data needs.
Performs and helps lead validation testing to ensure requirements are met.
Ensures that data and reports are stored and shared in a secure manner. Promotes awareness of the importance of data validity and security.
Participates in Change Management activities as required.
Works with team to track and monitor the entire portfolio of applications and reports. Contributes to a positive environment for reporting applications and/or system deficiencies and provides suggestions for system improvements and enhanced functionality.
Adheres to and champion the use of ANTHC design principles and documentation standards. Adheres to and champion compliance with ANTHC data security policies and protocols.
Develops data extracts, data transformations, data migrations, data visualizations, reports, and other related deliverables that meet project requirements.
Leverages the data structures and tools within ANTHC’s data and analytics strategy.
Provides on call and after hours support coverage to maintain the production systems on a rotating basis.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS
Knowledge of MS Windows and MS Office Tools, including advanced MS Excel, Word, Visio PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
Knowledge of various analysis, reporting, and presentation tools.
Knowledge of testing and validation for software or reporting deliverables.
Skill in Structured Query Language (SQL) required.
Skill in data analysis.
Visualization experience using Business Intelligence tools.
Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands, working independently.
Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships with colleagues and partners.
Skills in gathering and documenting business requirements accurately.
Skill in proofreading and editing documents for publication.
Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.
Skill in establishing continuous quality tracking, monitoring and improvement functions.
Ability to work as a team player and contribute to a positive team environment.
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, Statistics, Analytics or business-related related field. Progressively responsible professional work-related experience as a Programmer, Reports Analyst, Data Analyst, or comparable training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
Non-supervisory – Four (4) years experience in report development, data analysis, computer programming, or related area.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
Two (2) years experience in a healthcare environment.
Experience in the Alaska Tribal Health System.
Experience with Cerner data mining and reporting technologies: Cerner Discern Analytics (DA) 2.0, Cerner DA2 Query and Report Builder, Cerner DA2 MetaData Builder, and Cerner Command Language (CCL).
Skill in providing training and education for data management, reporting, and validation.
Software development experience.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION
Depending on the needs of the organization, some incumbents in this job class may be required to obtain additional technical certifications and programming language skills.
