Licensed Practical Nurse.
The position will be used to fill in for nursing staff on leave or out sick. The incumbent will work with elderly residents that not only experience physical limitations but also have varying rates of confusion/dementia. The LPN will provide behavior interventions with confused residents when warranted.
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
- Provide medication administration and observation of any reactions
- Supervise Certified Nurse Aides in their administration of medications to residents
- Interact with residents and families to discuss medical and other issues
- Assist in the development of assisted living care plans for residents
- Determine the need for and coordinate referral for medical and dental care
- Contact physicians on an as-needed basis and performs
- Related work as assigned

This facility is an Eden Alternative facility. The selected candidate may have contact with birds, cats and dogs in a home-like setting.
This position requires a criminal background check including fingerprinting.
- Minimum Qualifications
A diploma or certificate from an accredited school in practical nursing and eligibility for licensure as a practical nurse with the State of Alaska.
Special Requirements: Physical strength to lift, assist and transfer patients.
For some positions in this job class a background investigation including fingerprinting is required.
- Additional Required Information
At the time of interview applicant must submit:
- A current copy of your State of Alaska Practical Nurse license or proof of eligibility for licensure
- Two (2) professional references and three (3) character references with current telephone numbers
- A copy of current CPR & First Aid certificates
At time of employment applicant must submit:
- Results of your last TB test
To verify education being used to meet the required minimum qualifications, you must fill in the Education section of the application. Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials if used to meet the minimum qualifications for a position.
