Mechanical Estimator Job Description:

MECHANICAL ESTIMATOR:
Mechanical cost estimating experience for process piping, commercial oilfield, power house, or other industrial projects. Position requires an individual with 10+ years of experience in mechanical construction industry. The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for providing detailed estimates based upon conceptual documents as well as schematic, design development and construction documents.
The Mechanical Estimator must interface with other estimating disciplines as well as the other members of the Project Team, Subcontractors and Owner Representatives.
Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for all take-offs, pricing and producing the final estimate to be incorporated into the final work product.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 10 years experience in Mechanical Construction (field experience a plus)
- BS/BA in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering or related field, or related years of field/related cost estimating experience in lieu of a degree.
- Must have experience with all aspects of mechanical estimating, including HVAC and Piping Systems, Plumbing, Process Piping, ATC Systems and Process Instrumentation.
- Ability to work with Process P&ID drawings
- Knowledge of local Subcontractor Market, Project Management & Field Experience helpful
Working skills with standard business software (MS Office Suite).
Ideally proficient with Timberline Estimating Software
- Must be personable and capable of direct client interaction
- Well organized with strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and handle multiple assignments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete conceptual and final estimates by calculating a complete takeoff of the scope of work on complex mechanical projects.
- Provide technical support to personnel preparing other discipline estimates of assigned bids or in obtaining and reviewing material pricing or work plans.
- Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts and change orders.
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, will attend pre-bid meetings or site visits, or any other aspect of the estimation process required to determine scope of work and any other required element of the estimate.
- Review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
- Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, actual costs, etc. into unit and man-hour figures.
- Have an extensive understanding of estimating organizational structure and process.
