DESCRIPTION
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is seeking a Fundraising Associate Manager to manage our signature fundraising event "Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes" and support other special events in our Anchorage, Alaska office. We are looking for a high-energy, passionate and disciplined leader to organize, recruit for, and manage our Step Out and other special events.

The Associate Manager is responsible for implementing and executing existing special events, as well as meeting predetermined recruitment and fundraising goals within an assigned area. You will work with closely with new and current volunteer committees and staff, as help with various other development projects of the local ADA office.

The Associate Manager will ensure the logistics for the event, the successful identification, recruitment, cultivation and recognition of volunteers within the Alaska area market. In this capacity, the candidate must be able to work within a team and with key leaders to plan committee meetings, secure sponsorship and marketing for the events, team recruitment and other fundraising initiatives. Must also have the ability to manage multiple priorities, including community outreach programs, accounts payable/receivable, processing of records and the ability to handle calls for information from the general public.

The successful candidate is motivated, self-starter who is results oriented, with experience in working with and through groups to achieve desired outcomes. Must possess ability to fulfill job requirements in a timely manner with minimal supervision and be flexible dealing with changing demands. Must have experience working with people of diverse backgrounds. Excellent planning, organizational and follow-up skills are a must. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must, as well as a good base knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook. Must know how to close the deal, confirm mutual understandings and manage volunteer participation to successful outcomes. Must be self-motivated, pay attention to detail and be able to communicate with staff, sponsors, donors, and volunteers the vision of the ADA to ensure successful events.

REQUIREMENTS

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
* Minimum two years experience with similar voluntary health agencies, or in progressively responsible positions of administration and fundraising.
* Previous experience developing relationships that result in large dollar donations from individuals and corporations and success in achieving annual goals.
* Knowledge of surrounding communities is a plus.
* Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication skills and computer proficiency are essential.
* Must have excellent facilitation and/or presentation skills.
* Experience in working with diverse volunteer groups from many employment and socio economic backgrounds.
* Must have access to an automobile as local travel is required.
* Ability to attend some weekday evening meetings and some weekend work.
* Applicant should enjoy working in the field and with face to face interactions.
* Ability to lift 25 lbs.
